For several years the Parish Council has organised a sponsored walk over footpaths within the boundaries of the parish on August Bank Holiday. Wigan Ramblers lead the walk, and each year charities are chosen to receive the sponsorship money. This year's charities were the Derian House Hospice for children and the Wigan Hospice.
The weather wasn't great but about 20 hardy souls braved the rain. About £160 was raised for the charities.
